UF HealthStreet to host a town hall meeting on how the microbes in our gut affect our health.

On Thursday, March 28th, UF HealthStreet is hosting an Our Community, Our Health (OCOH) national town hall focusing on the connection between gut bacteria and systemic health.

We invite you to join us and our panel of scientists as we discuss the role of diet and environmental factors on the human microbiome and findings that support gastrointestinal health.

The panel will answer questions from audience members who join us in person or via livestream.

Meet the Panel

Panelists include:

  • Sandra M. Buerger, Ph.D., lecturer of natural sciences and mathematics in the Boston University College of General Studies.
  • Gary P. Wang, M.D., Ph.D., FIDSA, associate professor of medicine and chief of the division of infectious diseases and global medicine in the UF Department of Medicine.
  • Adam C.N. Wong, Ph.D., assistant professor of insect-microbe interactions in the UF IFAS department of entomology and nematology and the UF Genetics Institute.

The moderator will be Volker Mai, Ph.D., MPH, associate professor of microbiology and cell science in the UF College of Public Health and Health Professions’ and College of Medicine’s department of epidemiology and associate member of the Emerging Pathogens Institute.

This public event takes place from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, March. 28, 2019 at UF HealthStreet, located at 2401 SW Archer Road, Gainesville, and online at bit.ly/OCOHMARCH28.
