Behavioral health issues affect many people in our community

According to our HealthStreet member database, 37.4% of people in Alachua County reported being told by a health  professional that they had a mental health disorder(Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Mania), and 7.8% of people in Alachua Country reported being told by a health professional that they had other mental health disorders (Eating Disorder, Schizophrenia, Personality Disorder) as a health condition.

In fact, our members have told us through doing a health assessment with a Community Health Worker that mental Health is one of the top eight health concerns in Gainesville.

  • Average Age for people with a mental health disorder is 43.2 years
  • Average Education level for people with a mental health disorder in Gainesville is 12.6 years

Top Five Mental Disorders Among HealthStreet members​

  1. Depression

  5. Schizophrenia

Of the 2,442 HealthStreet members with a mental health disorder, 1,270  and 599 were Navigated and Enrolled to health research studies, respectively.
